Would be interesting to find out how many of the MB evos where made. How do they perform on the track now a days when you see them John. Gorilla I know what you mean with the Batman look. I never got used to the fender flares they look very after market sort of out of place and the rear wing, well it's great to hang a towel over it to get dried. I would say the E30 M3 is more popular because the M3 is a little more affordable then the MB and it looks better.:31: Thomas
I have no ITB's, it has a intake manifold with a fuel distributor. Which I would like to get rid of at some point in time. Maybe I could make one of our TB fit with some modifications. Thomas
quite a bit of money to upgrade that engine. assuming new parts and some rough guesses at cost: ITBs: 2000 euro Airbox setup: 1500 euro ECU: 1500 euro engine harness/sensors: 1000 euro mapping on dyno: 150 euro/hr * 10 hours = 1500 euro ----------------------- 7500 euro. then "while you are in there" you may also want to do different cams and pistons. headwork, header, etc. Same program as with the S14. Some things could probably be done cheaper and you might retrofit something else. But, this is what I meant with the road going S14 is a lot closer to the Gr. A or DTM versions compared to the MB motor and its race version. John
I'll have to do this one thing at a time. I need to get the car running first to see what other problems I may have. The car is in pretty good condition so I don't suspect not to many major problems. Then to keep my priority straight I want to finish my build on the S14 2.5 L engine. Once that's done I play with the MB some more. I am still looking for a engine for the MB darned these are hard to find. Thomas
Hi Thomas, will your engine be built by the time Sebring Winterfest comes around? am I supposed to help tune it? if so remind me that we have to get you a different chip, and I also would like to see you do the EGT stuff Im talking about in the general discussion. Im going to need more time to tune that engine than I did your stock engine. You may just have to give me the car for a couple of days if it takes too long (last time you asked me a few times if "are we done now?" and maybe by then you have the 75% diff in (youre going to need it) and the suspension setup. John
Hey John I don't recall saying are we done now ........ Yes I would like to have the new engine ready for winter fest that's the goal. I would like that very much if you could tune the new engine, maybe we could use your map as a base map to save time. Sure you can have my car so you can terrorize your brother neighbor hood I want to install the 4.10 differential next month to see how I like the ratio I am afraid it is to short on the gearing. It might be good for tuning since you could do WOT at a lower speed . Thomas
just remember you also have to break in the engine and check everything out....so cant do everything last minute. have some spare fuel pumps this time ok? the 4.10 is pretty short. 1st gear is going to have traction problems if you really get on the power. @8500 rpm you can still do 143 mph in 5th gear with a 4.10 diff. I think at Sebring you will reach that speed easily on the 2 main straights. You will come into turn 17 banging off the rev limiter in 5th John
Thomas, are you planning on getting a MS 75% diff? if so, when, because I am looking to get one as well. Mike
Hi Mike I have a differential which I bought from Ron Checca a while ago. It's not a MS I wish. Maybe in the future I buy one. But for now this one will have to do for now. Thomas
I Have one But ist in Europe Mercedes Benz 190 2,3 16V W201 Year: 1985 KM: 201744 Engine number: 102983 price: 1000 Euro Place: Basel, Switzerland. Daniel
Thanks for your kind offer Daniel, at the moment I have two leads on an engine. If they fall thru I gladly work something out with you. Thomas
