I have to return your compliment by saying what I wrote on S14.net your M3 is the best looking road M3 EVER, mate! I'd love to put my hands on a set of wheels and hubs like yours. I'd buy another M3 just to fit those wheels and a race suspension!
Here goes a couple of fotos I took today of the car's belly before it was waxed. On the other the Hartge box can be seen. BTW, it's not me in the foto (I was actually TAKING the foto)
Here's a description of the work done: - Zinc-plating: All nut, bolt and brackets originally zincplates in the engine compartment Alternator fan/pulley - Sand blasted: exhaust's heat shields g'box carrier alternator aluminium body diff's cover - Re-painted the car's under floor plus the following items: - All 4 suspension arms - Front suspension struts - Front subframe - Diferencial/suspension carrier - Diferential body - Wheel wells - Pulleys (A/C, P.S. and Water pump) - etc. In the end a layer of medium hardness wax from Wurth was applied.
Kiko, Do you know what caliper they are? Hi Spec list a Radial Mount, a Slimline and a Tight models http://www.hispecbrake.co.uk/calipers/start-mon6page.htm I'm guessing they are not the Tight model as they are for discs of 300mm or less. Are they fully dust sealed? The Slimline are not. Steve
i hope you checked for rust before you re-undersealed and waxed, others have seen some serious rust hiding very well under the standard underseal. I only say as i seem to remember your car came from the UK. This is something i have been systematically doing around the car recently, scraping off sections of underseal to check, nothing serious to report so far only surface, but this is how it starts...
Hi Steve: Its the Slimline (extra 5mm clearance) but its fully dust sealed just read the description again. If there is interest I can post the custom bell hats measurements and the brackets thickness. As a guideline the rotors cost £60 each from Hispec and they pretty good (curved veined, slotted and produced in Germany). You'd have to add the price of the calipers and the machining of the custom caliper brackets and bell hats.
I did my best looking for rust... the car was very clean and used randomly specially in the winter (hence the low mileage). She's now safe from salt and will be driven in the rain very, very little.
Sorry my bad but their information is contradictory to say the list, please see the features list: http://www.hispecbrake.co.uk/calipers/SLMON6PAGE.htm Anyway, the system has been used on and off the road for a few years now and has proven to be faultless.
I'm not sure, depends on the caliper because although you'd be loosing 7mm on the rotor's thickness you could only use half of that to offset the rotor inwards otherwise you'll touch the tie-tod end. But if you add the 3.5/4mm gain with an even slimmer caliper you could get away with that. Hispec's customer service is not what I'd call stellar but if I were you I'd ask them (talk to Richard) to give you the technical drawing of the Monster "Tight Fit" and a 4 piston caliper configuration for that rotor size and see how muchclearance you'd gain with those calipers.
