    Location and Intro

Joined the forum not too long ago. The worldwide participation here continues to fascinate me. I am very appreciative of the info posted and happy to return the favor by assisting whenever possible.

Favorite track: Nurburgring (in any meitwagon available at the Frankfurt airport as long as it doesn't have winter tires (BTDT)).
I work in the investment management business to fund the disease.

Recently relocated from NYC, NY to Wilmington, Delaware (2 hrs SW of NY).

    Brought the collection in tow:
    1988 325ic (summer car)
    1990 325ix (winter car)
    1990 M3 (giant paperweight, sexy-model car)
    1995 M3 (track car)
    2003 X5 (safety car)
Memories of others enshrined in garage:
    1988 M6
    1988 M3
    1991 M3

Hi MJ and welcome. That's quite a BMW loyalty you've got going on there ;)

What's up with the paperweight ?

    Paperweight

Its a big paperweight b/c: I worry about taking it out when the sun is too bright (UV damage), worry about taking it out when its too cloudy (might rain and acid rain damage is painful), don't want to flog it on the track, so, it really gets taken out only on nice days off with oerfect weather- which is uncommon given my work and family responsibilities...therefor it remains a giant paperweight.

The paperweight is an Italian Brilliant Red/cloth interior SportEvo which made its way into my hands from the former UK owner. No mods other than a Ring sticker on the bootlid.

Hi MJ, so there are 2 Sportevos in USA now or are there more of them?

You dont have to use a rental car on the Ring itself, you can get an E36 M3 track
car to drive (with cage, coilover suspension etc.). This should be much more fun
    for you.

    John,
Indeed, at least 2 in the US (one red and one black).

Next time I can get out to the Ring for a long weekend of driving bliss...I will be asking you for more details.

Second most memorable moment on Ring: After a "heated" lap, being asked by a bunch of 993TT guys in the paddock if I was a test driver for Alfa Romeo (Had been eating them alive for a good 3/4 of lap in a "new" Alfa 166).
Most memorable moment: spinning off track full tilt between PflanzgartenII heading towards schwalbenschwanz to avoid barrelling into stopped cars on the track which were watching a Pcar RS which had spun 180 degrees into the left side wall. After heading right at the RS in the grass, managed to rotate the car clockwise, miss the RS by 1-2 feet, and end up back on the track facing the right way. Wiped up my passenger's code brown, cruised back to the paddock, and doused myself in some fine wheat beer. Of course this took place on a Sunday so traffic was heavy...have disliked Sunday at the Ring ever since.

Consider yourself lucky! Not exactly sure where you went off
after Plfanzgarten II and until Pflanzgarten III (the following
S curves where you have about 200+ kmh), or between
pflanzgarten III and schwalbenschwanz where you can reach
230-240 kmh if you have the power. I dont see how an
accident at speed could be avoided in the S corner, so it must
have been either before or after, and given the speed and the
way the track runs, youre lucky.

    Mad Sunday :)

Traffic doesnt bother me really. I like to get clean laps, but if
there are a bunch of cars out there no big deal either.
You are not allowed to pass on the right anymore, that probably
    wasnt so when you drove.
