Well, I'm usually there, but the car is in southern California and I try to visit it when I can ;-)

I'd like to thank John and everyone for this forum, and tho I've not posted before, I have spent inordinate time gleaning :)

While I'm thanking John, I'm very pleased to have purchased a cf box and alpha n from him. Quality pieces and support (but you know that!).

The motor is a 2.5 with the following specs and was built (um, last time) by Andy at Bullet:

    bottom end
    > - 2.5 evo crank
    > - 10.5 wiseco forged pistons w/ large valve relief
    > - tapered wall wrist pin
    > - nitrate piston rings
    > - race wear main studs
    > - '95 m3 timing chain tensioner
    >
    > headwork
    > - ported & polished - matched to 48mm throttle bodies
    > - 284 intake - 11.5 mm lift
    > - 276 exh - 11.3 mm lift
    > - 37.5mm intake valves
    > - 33mm exh valves
    > - motorsport gruppe 'n' valve springs
    > - multi layered steel head gasket
    > - adjustable timing gears

Finally have the evo injectors in, and a less restrictive exhaust as well as the iigo chip set to vary timing only. Today we got it mostly dialed in on the dyno.

Let's see, can I post a link to the dyno chart here...

2 runs are shown, we tweaked the timing to the next advanced setting for the 2nd run. You may also note a big hole in the torque around 4400 on the 2nd run. The clutch was tending to slip there so Shawn had let off on the throttle a bit. The clutch is basically new and has been inspected twice recently. Looks like that will need an upgrade. There may be more torque to be had if I ever get around to upgrading the stock header.

Various other pics are on that disorganized site, feel free to look around. :)

I should probably mention that all this is shoehorned into a '73 2002.

    Cheers,

    Ray Koke

    Hi Kiko,

That would be nice, but... I will be in Tianjin, and the car is in California :-D

If you come to Tianjin we can ride around in a Xiali!

Actually my friend just had an Audi TT delivered, and I told her I want to borrow it!

    Cheers,

    Ray

I'm very pleased with the numbers (of course!). Probbaly not going to meddle much with it for now, it's really quite nice.

Being in a 2400lb car helps a bit also ;-)

    Cheers,

    Ray

    ps thanks for the welcome!

Whenever it is that I manage to come back to the States on a semi-permanent basis, she is coming with us.

Hi Ray, looks like a nice build up. Feel free to post up any pics of your
car under media-->pictures, or under project cars.

you wouldnt happen to have pictures of the head inlets?

Im guessing you tuned the car on California's lower octane gas and hence
the 10.5:1 CR as well as the low octane iigo chip (which I believe is
intended for 11.25:1 CR). It would have been nice
to have an AFR plot along side the dyno plot.

the larger noncat header would be an improvement. the stock US one
    is 42/48 mm.

    this ones nice:

    Hi John,

Thanks for the kind words. That's Shawn Church doing the dyno run, btw. SBI recommends his shop in SoCal.

    http://home.earthlink.net/~spchurch/churchautomotivetesting/

I can get the file showing the afr plots.

Correct, re the 10.5 cr motor, due to local 91 (R+M)/2 octane "premium."

It has become visually obvious that the current header is the new weak link in the system. I'll research proper options, though it may be a while before I make that change. The car really screams now, I'm about to admit it's fast enough (apparently I am old!)!

Let me check and see if I can get a pic of the head inlets.

... The installed iigo chip addresses varying timing only, via the fqs... range of about +6 to -5 degrees.

    Cheers,

    Ray

As my first car some 20 odd years ago was a 2000 touring (Which I restored, eventually) followed by a couple of 2002 tii's, I love seeing the S14 engine in one....
Would have been my wet dream back when I was still a teenager, lol :D :D

Nice BMW's you have there, Ray!

Thanks. I had a tii for 15 years, and sold it, unseen to a guy in Guam! Shipped it to him from California. And... now he's putting an S14 in it (something I wouldn't do to a tii).

The current 2002 does have a tii clock :)

    Cheers,

    Ray
