From time to time Im contacted whether we can make the carbon valve covers. How many people would be interested in one? Expected price is around 500 euro. They are time consuming to make. (For comparison, an S42 CF valve cover from Motorsport costs 1100 euro.) If interested, please put your name here. John
Interested = yes. Timing = can't do it at this time, but would someday be interested .......... down the road......... after a few other things.
I know of 3 people that want one me included ) Thomas PS How long do you think it would take for the VC to be available ? How are they made, is it going to be a wrapped VC or a all CF valvecover ?
John, I am one of those people who have contacted you about this and yes... I would also be interested.
Is it going to be anything like the original? Will it follow the same contours or will it be a straight lump of CF with no lettering, grooves, etc? Weight of the old vs new?
Thanks! Tempting, but I actually quite like the look of the standard VC, but if there's significant weight savings over the front wheels...
Nick, have you held the std Valve cover? it's very light. As much as the carbon one looks very very nice (and if I had the spare cash I'd be buying one). I doubt you'd call the weight savings significant.. But I suppose it all comes down to the level of weight saving that you've already done... HTH John
The only thing that sort of makes me wonder is the surface for the oil cap. It appears to be CF/clearcoat as opposed to an aluminum surface. Could this cause issues with seepage?
Where do you get the 852.42 gramms from Uwe Thomas PS or you don't eat that cheesburger before you go racing
It is lighter, but Ill have to go weigh one. I think the prototype was around 1-1.5 kg lighter, but Ill have to see. the one in the pic is the prototype. A production version looks better. still, a CF valve cover is more of a bling thing to compliment a CF airbox. Although there are some people who would argue that 1 kg weight savings high up in the engine bay is significant. John
John, Any concerns regarding the oil cap sealing surface being CF as opposed to aluminum? Is this the same on a production VC as opposed to the prototype?
I noticed (dont worry, that is not the version that will be built because you would be missing a few other required engine components) John
John, How goes it? I was just curious as to when you might be looking to get this together? No rush at all...just curious! ;smilie[78]
when we have some serious interest we will get started. Thus far, there has not been serious interest. John
