    Hi All,

Just looking to see if there would be interest in GRa fly wheels.

This flywheel will accommodate a 5.5 inch clutch assembly....but if people would rather have a 7 inch version, we could make those up too.

    Unit costs would be £700

These would be manufactured in SAE 4145 alloy steel. This is an American specification steel that is particularly suitable for this type of competition flywheel.

    - Alternatively they can be made from 817M40T (EN24T) alloy steel at an additional cost.

In both the above instances the ring gear is not heat treated and retains the properties of the base material. Typically 55-65 tsi tensile and 28 Rockwell ’C’ surface hardness. This is fine for competition use where the starter is used considerably less frequently than on a road vehicle.

For ‘everyday’ use it would be advisable to enhance the hardness of the teeth.

This can be done by induction hardening, but the flywheel will almost certainly distort to an extent that will require subsequent machining, having an associated cost. Alternatively the flywheel can be tuftrided all over. This is a low temperature process and there will be no distortion. Cost for tuftriding will be about £20.00 per flywheel.

For those who are running stock EMS/Maxx we can incorporate a trigger onto the fly wheel so that you can run them in stock configurations and with Maxx. (this is yet to be costed as an option)

spoke to TTV at the autosport show and they seemed like a
small and very friendly/helpfull operation, was thinking of
    buying their 5.3kg flywheel.

The lite is the same weight as an Evo II/III. I would be interesting to see the reverse side.

    No problem Paddy,

    from TTV's site:
    E30 2.3 S14 'Lite'
    Lightweight billet steel
    Integral teeth
    Suits standard diameter clutch
    Dynamically balanced
    Weight: 5.3Kg
    Part number: 0752

Wondering since the ring gear is integral
would this flywheel suffer tooth deterioration
as mentioned by Demlotcrew in the first post?
    Thoughts anybody?
Ps. apologies to Demlotcrew for going a little
    off from your original post.
